I pledged to get funding to start dualling the A1 through North Northumberland – and now I have delivered. I had already secured funding of £293 million and the preparatory works had been completed, and now the Secretary of State for Transport has approved the final Development Consent Order. Following delays caused by environmentalists challenging road investment, the final planning approval is fantastic news for our local communities and businesses, our emergency services and tourism.

 Almost two-thirds of our constituency can now access at least 900 Mbps broadband, but I’ll continue to get rural coverage even higher.
