It was a pleasure to support the Employ Autism Pledge in Parliament last week, hosted by Ambitious about Autism, aimed at helping more autistic young people enter in the workplace.
71% of autistic young people who are unemployed say they would like to be in work, but less than a third are confident they will be able to find work in the next year their research shows.
The charity’s Employ Autism programme has enabled hundreds of young people to gain employability skills and paid work experience by providing autism resources, training, mentoring and paid internships and going forward I look forward to working with employers, careers professionals and autistic people in North Northumberland to increase opportunities and boost our autism employment rate.
