It was a delight to visit Embleton Vincent Edwards C of E Primary School last week, including an insightful Q&A with the wonderful pupils from years 5 and 6.
Earlier in the year, the school featured in the BBC Countryfile Magazine for their innovative ‘beach school’ where, once a week, pupils swap the classroom for a day on the beach, learning in the natural environment.
We discussed the recent school improvements, new classroom and, despite the challenge in attracting pupils, the increased numbers since my last visit.
The Government and will continue to support our local schools, including the extra £2 billion provided this year and next for primary and secondary schools – the highest real terms spending on schools in history. A typical primary school will receive an extra £35,000 and a typical secondary school £200,000.
