Anne-Marie was invited by Scremerston First School headteacher Mrs Sarah Smith, to attend the school's weekly parents assembly, and as well as speaking to the pupils about being an MP and taking their questions, she was able to listen to parents and school staff as they told her of their concerns about plans to reorganise the school system in the Berwick area.
Northumberland County Council is presently consulting on it's proposals for a change to the education set-up in Berwick to either a two-tier system or a revised three-tier model. The consultation is ongoing, and closes on 3rd March 2023.
Both proposals indicate the closure of Scremerston First School, a scenario I know is causing understandable concern among the community.
Following the meeting, Anne-Marie has written to NCC with some of those key concerns, asking that they be taken into account.
