The Government has announced a major package of support for households to help with the rising cost of energy, which has particularly affected gas and electricity customers.
Each household will receive £400, and the Energy Price Guarantee will apply from October meaning the average household shouldn’t pay more than £2,500 per year. Those homes that rely on heating oil have also seen a rise in prices, which although is not as large as the huge rise in gas, will leave many worried. The Government has announced an additional £100 for those homes (in addition to the £400 and the other existing measures such as Winter Fuel Allowance).
Park homes residents will also receive the support outlined above.
These payments and reductions will be made automatically. You do not need to do anything. You will not be asked by Ofgem, or your supplier to apply for it. If you receive a message purporting to be from Ofgem or an energy supplier asking you to fill in your details to receive the discounted rates or the £400 – it is a scam. If you believe you have received a scam email/text, please report it to Action Fraud HERE. If you have given any of your personal information, such as bank details, contact your bank immediately.
