Northern Powergrid
I have spoken to Chief Executive Phil Jones a few times today, to provide me with updates, and for me to reiterate my offer of central Government help should it be required.
Northern Powergrid has 90% of power restored nationally but most of remaining outstanding areas are in Northumberland and Durham. There are still hundreds of individual incidents in Northumberland to be resolved. I know how hard it has been to contact NPG (there is still a live pylon down in my garden, I too am without power). I have been able to feed in cases to their team, and ensure those most vulnerable are prioritised.
Northern Powergrid has launched an email service for people to log their case and to receive individual updates:
[email protected]
When emailing, please include your full contact details including phone numbers.
If you know of anyone who is especially vulnerable please contact my team who will ensure they are treated as a priority by Northern Powergrid.
As of this afternoon there are 14,000 households without power across Northumberland, Tyne and Wear region. Yesterday that figure was over 26,000 so progress is being made.
Engineers are focusing on Northumberland and I am told there are around 1,500 of them out on the ground working on repairs and restoring power.
I am told the Wooler and Rothbury grids are back on.
