Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, visited Boots on Marygate in Berwick this morning, to see their newly-opened vaccination centre for herself. She was met by Karen Ayton, Boots Area Manager, Karen Virtue, Store Manager and Danni Flannigan Operations Lead for the site. Anne-Marie was given a tour of the site and met and chatted to staff.
Anne-Marie said of the visit: “I was delighted to be invited to visit this new vaccination site at Boots here in Berwick, and was so impressed by the set-up. I know from my postbag how keen people are to have their vaccine locally if possible, so it is wonderful there are even more options for my constituents, in addition to our fantastic GP teams.”
The site, which started vaccinating people on Saturday 27th March, is scheduled to administer 1,200 vaccines per week which is in addition to the vaccines being supplied to GP hubs across Northumberland.
As of 25 March, 34,168 of Ms Trevelyan’s constituents had received at least one dose of the vaccine already. The NHS is asking people to book into regional centres or pharmacies, including Boots in Berwick, to enable GPs to focus on inviting those with more complex medical needs.
