Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, has expressed her delight that Amble has won a nationwide competition to find the best high street in a coastal town, beating strong entries from Prestatyn and Bognor Regis.
The awards ceremony was held yesterday in Parliament and Ann Burke, Chairman of the Amble Business Club and Julia Aston from Amble Development Trust came down to Westminster for the occasion.
Anne-Marie said: “I am so thrilled and proud of Amble. This was a strong category, but it came as no surprise to me that Amble came out on top. This award is a wonderful way to pay tribute to our fantastic town its people and businesses. I understand the judges were particularly impressed by the excellent co-operation between businesses in the town. The award is also a fabulous way of attracting new visitors to Amble – I know we will give them a warm welcome!”
