Situated on the Northumberland coast, Bamburgh is charming village that boasts a rich history and stunning scenery that is sure to captivate you.
Bamburgh Castle is a must-see attraction, with its imposing presence atop a rocky plateau providing a magical backdrop for walks along the beach. Explore the castle's impressive corridors and towering turrets, and don't miss out on the array of events constantly happening on the grounds, such as Dragon Hunts, Ghost Tours, and Outdoor Cinema Screenings.
But Bamburgh's historical offerings don't stop there. Visit the RNLI Grace Darling Museum to learn about Victorian Britain's greatest heroine and the impact she had on the RNLI, or take a guided tour of the Bamburgh Ossuary, the final resting place of people from the 6th and 7th centuries.
When you're not indulging in history, take a stroll down Bamburgh's stone-fronted streets, stopping at one of the village's many cafes for a cuppa or high-end restaurant for some exquisite local seafood. The Victoria Hotel Bar and Restaurant is a perfect place to unwind and relax after a day of exploring Bamburgh. The bar offers an extensive menu of fine wines and beers that can be enjoyed all day, along with a variety of light bites, making it a great spot to read the papers or enjoy pre-dinner drinks. You can even play board games with your friends and family while sipping on your favourite beverage.
Golfers can also tee off at Bamburgh Castle Golf Club, which offers stunning views of Lindisfarne, the Farne Islands, the Cheviots, and Bamburgh Castle. And let's not forget the breathtaking scenery.
Stand on Bamburgh Castle beach and gaze out at the North Sea, taking in views of Holy Island and the Farne Islands. It is worth noting that Bamburgh's new disabled beach facilities provide full access for wheelchair users and those with mobility concerns, making it a more accessible destination. All-terrain wheelchairs are now available for loan thanks to the partnership between the Parish Council and Beach Access North East, so everyone can enjoy the stunning views of Bamburgh Castle from the beach. Additionally, Bamburgh is not only more accessible to beachgoers with disabilities, but also to children with accessibility needs thanks to the new fully-equipped accessible playground. It's heartening to see the community coming together to make Bamburgh more inclusive for everyone, and as a local resident, I'm thrilled to have had the opportunity to see this progress firsthand.
