Today the Government has launched the 'Nominate a Community Payback Project'. This project is looking for nominations of organisations that seek to provide work to serving offenders in HM Prison and Probation Service.
I want to encourage you to consider nominating a Community Payback project in our area. Community Payback is a program where offenders complete unpaid work to repay the community for their crimes, such as removing graffiti, clearing wasteland, and decorating community centres.
It's important to recognise the positive impact that these offenders can have in our communities through their work. Not only do they contribute to the improvement of our neighbourhoods, but they also learn new skills and gain a sense of responsibility and accountability for their actions.
To make a nomination, simply email HM Prison and Probation Service at [email protected] with the name of the project or organisation, where the work would take place, a short description of the work to be done, and your contact details. Your nomination will be assessed to see if it's suitable, and you will be informed if and when work can start on it.
It's important to note that the work must benefit the local community, not take paid work away from others, and not make a profit for anyone. By nominating a project, you can help make a positive impact in your community while providing offenders with an opportunity to give back and learn valuable skills.
Let's work together to recognise the importance of Community Payback projects and continue to build stronger, safer communities.
