I wanted to share my thoughts on the new Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Bill that the Government has introduced.
As many of you know, this bill will make sure that important public services like healthcare, education, fire and rescue, transportation, and more, maintain a basic level of function even during strikes. This is crucial for ensuring that the public can still access life-saving services and go about their daily lives during a strike period.
I know some of you might be thinking, "But wait, isn't this going to prevent strikes?", not at all! This bill is simply in place to make sure that important services remain running at a minimum level during periods of industrial action. It's not meant to prevent strikes from happening, but it is meant to protect the public's safety during them.
I also wanted to mention that this bill is similar to laws that already exist in other countries, like France and Spain. It's good to see the UK catch up with this kind of legislation that so many other countries have already adopted.
Overall, I support this bill because it's important to make sure that the public's safety and access to important services is protected, even during strikes. As always, I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this topic and if you wish to discuss them, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
