Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, has welcomed additional funding announced by the Prime Minister, to allow extra upgrades to A&Es to prepare for the winter.
The Prime Minister announced that 117 NHS Trusts would receive a total of £300million to help put in place measures to mitigate pressures on A&E over the winter, which might be places under extra strain as a result of Covid-19. Northumbria NHS Trust is to receive £1,000,000 to help with any changes that need to be made to ease pressure on A&E.
Speaking of the extra funds, Anne-Marie said: “I am delighted Northumbria NHS is to receive this extra funding to help ensure services remain efficient and open to all. It is vital that those who need emergency medical care know they can access it, even during the busier winter months.”
The funding could assist hospitals with expanding patient treatment areas, improving infection control measures and reducing overcrowding.
