Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, received a full briefing last week on how the new Berwick Infirmary will look once work is complete.
The MP was met on site at the present Infirmary by Jennifer Coe from Northumbria NHS Trust, along with Executive Lead Marion Dickson and local resident Les Morgan who is the project lead.
Anne-Marie was shown plans for both the exterior of the new hospital and the internal schematics and was talked through the timetable, which is presently on course to see the new Infirmary complete by Spring 2022.
Anne-Marie said: “I was so pleased to see the plans for our new hospital here in Berwick, which we have waited so long for. Not only has there been a great deal of community input in the plans, but the staff who will work here have also been able to shape the plans. Our town will have a great new facility here which will include Well Close GP surgery and a brand new endoscopy suite. I would encourage anyone who has not yet seen the plans to visit the public session on 11th March in Berwick Town Hall.”
The plans will be on full view for the public at drop-in sessions, hosted by Berwick Regeneration Commission, at the Town Hall from 11am to 4pm and 5pm to 7pm.
Subject to planning consent, work will begin on the new site in the autumn.
