MP provides childcare update
Following the Government meeting its commitment to launch 30 hours of free childcare earlier this year, it is now looking to a new cohort of children to join the scheme in January. Parents wanting to take up a 30 hours place for their child in the January term should apply as soon as possible, and ideally by 30 November to ensure they receive their eligibility code in good time.
It is important that even those parents who have a child taking a 30 hours place need to confirm their details are up to date every three months. Parents will receive a reminder to do this but they can check their details on www.gov.uk/childcareaccount.
Anne-Marie said “The Government’s commitment to spending £6 billion a year on children by 2019-20 is making a huge difference to the lives of families in north Northumberland. It takes a major burden and cost off parents, and allows them to spend more of their money on their family and day-to-day lives. I want to make sure that all eligible parents get a place for their child and I would encourage them to apply as soon as possible. If anyone has problems with the system or application then I would encourage them to contact me so that I can help.”
“I am delighted that the Government is also rolling out Tax-Free Childcare to parents whose youngest child is under six or has their sixth birthday on 24 November. Parents can use the childcare calculator to check their options and apply online, which can be accessed at www.childcarechoices.gov.uk – this is policy that is working to provide families with more freedom and money which can make a real difference to them.”
