Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, has written to fellow Northumberland MP Guy Opperman, as part of his new role as Pensions Minister, inviting him to meet Northumberland WASPI.
WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality) represent women born in the 1950s who were given little notice of the increase in pension age.
Anne-Marie has been a firm supporter of WASPI in her two years as the MP. She has been an active member of the APPG for WASPI (more HERE), has regular meetings with Northumberland WASPI (see more HERE) and has presented their recent petition to Parliament (see HERE). She also sends regular email updates to WASPI members in the Berwick-upon-Tweed constituency, detailing what she is doing on the issue on their behalf in Parliament.
Anne-Marie firmly believes the best way to seek consensus moving forwards is to work together constructively cross-party, and to use her influence as a Conservative in a Conservative Government to persuade Ministers to listen, and hopes Mr Opperman will look favourably on her invitation, which can be viewed below.
