New stats show more than 16,700 extra police officers have been hired across England and Wales as part of the Government's 20,000 new police officer commitment helping to cut crime and keep communities safe.
I was elected in 2019 on a promise to the British people to recruit 20,000 extra police officers – cutting crime and making our streets safer.
That is why yesterday I welcomed figures revealing that 1,420 new police officers have been recruited in the past three months – and 16,753 since 2019 – as part of the Government's Police Uplift Programme, and a record number of officers have been recruited from an ethnic minority background.
This demonstrates the importance of a Conservative Government – cracking down on crime and making our communities safer. You can read more about this HERE.
