This week is Great Big Green Week, building on World Environment Day and World Ocean Day last week.
In wonderful news that shows our commitment to conserving and protecting our environment and climate, new Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs funding will help local landowners restore a further 300 hectares of our unique and precious North Northumberland landscape, after the destruction of Storm Arwen, targeted where woodland is most at risk of being lost. This builds on:
- 900 hectares of woodland
- 2.6 million individual trees
That have already been planted, including by the Northumberland County Council-led Northumberland Woodland Creation Partnership, since 2021.
