Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP paid a visit to three schools in the constituency, Barndale House School in Alnwick, Vincent Edwards C of E Primary School in Embleton and Hipsburn Primary School in Hipsburn.
Anne-Marie held talks with the Head Teacher in each school and then had a tour of each school visiting children in classes and at Embleton did a question and answer session with children who were studying how Parliament works as part of Parliament week across the UK.
Anne-Marie said “The favourite part of my job as a Member of Parliament is to visit our fantastic local schools and speak to our wonderful education workers and the children whom they teach. It is vitally important than we ensure our children have a good knowledge of our process of Government and democracy as it is precious. These children are the bright future of our nation and I will be fighting hard to ensure they have the skills needed to compete in a global environment and allow them to fulfil their dreams, whatever they may be.”
"I have always found that the most pressing and erudite questions come from children in our local schools, and as ever, they put me on the spot and asked engaging and intelligent questions which really kept me on my toes. The questions showed the quality of education that these schools are providing and what a wonderful group of children are being brought up in our area."
