Anne-Marie Trevelyan, the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Berwick-upon-Tweed, has pledged her support to the international charity, Save the Children's; "No Child Born to Die Campaign".
The campaign aims to ensure that every child has access to the basic healthcare they need to survive, to end preventable child deaths by 2030. World leaders are meeting at a UN Development Summit in September to agree new global goals in order to achieve this.
Anne-Marie Trevelyan said; "I am a strong supporter of so much of what Save the Children's do and this is an excellent and especially important campaign. Over six million children die every year as they do not have access to basic healthcare so relatively minor conditions can become fatal. I have pledged to support this cause and to lobby my leadership after the election and ahead of the UN Summit".
