It was a pleasure to drop by the National Association of Cider Makers British Cider Week event in Parliament this week, especially given the fantastic cider producers who call Berwick-upon-Tweed home. Small businesses are the bedrock of our rural communities, and supporting them is a priority for me, so I wanted to take the opportunity to highlight a few of our outstanding local cider producers with you today.
First, Monkey House Cider, located in Ramparts Business Park in Berwick-upon-Tweed, who are the winners of three bronze medals across three categories of the International Cider Challenge 2021. Their small batch ciders are crafted using traditional methods and, if you're over 18, you can learn more on their website at: monkeyhousecider.co.uk
Second, Willowtree Cider, based in Alnwick, who pride themselves on using British apples to create delicious, refreshing flavors. Their cider is available on feralnorthdrinks.co.uk/willowtree-cider, where you can explore their range and see for yourself why they are so highly regarded.
Finally, I want to mention Lindisfarne Mead and their sister company Alnwick Brewery Co & Taproom, located on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and in Alnwick, their range includes both the Lindisfarne Cider and Alnwick Cider. These companies have a long-standing history of producing high-quality beverages that are enjoyed throughout the region and beyond. You can learn more about their range of products on their website: lindisfarnemead.com
Please be assured the Government and I will continue to support small businesses such as these, as well as their wider communities, and in the meantime, do consider trying these locally produced ciders. Cheers!
