Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, held a meeting with LNER today to raise constituents’ concerns about their plans to dramatically reduce the opening hours of their ticket office at Berwick station.
The train company announced a consultation on its proposals, which would see the ticket office open only during morning hours.
Anne-Marie said:
“Understandably LNER’s proposals were met with concern by local residents, many of whom have been in touch with me about this. I was keen to take their concerns to LNER and hear more about the their proposals.
“I was grateful to the LNER team for taking the time to meet me today, and for hearing me out. They took time to listen to the concerns of Berwick passengers, and I explained why it is so important to have access to ticket staff, especially for more elderly or vulnerable passengers. They promised me they would take my concerns into consideration, and keep me informed of how the consultation progresses.”
