Amble is a seaside town on the mouth of the river Coquet, which grew up as a link between the Northumbrian coalfields and shipping. With the closure of the collieries and the local railway, Amble's economy is in transition, with tourism, fishing and light industries now supporting local employment. The County Council division Amble also includes the villages of Acklington, Togston and Hauxley.
Anne-Marie campaigned in 2009 against the closure of Amble Day Care Centre. She has worked with Conservative Councillors to successfully challenge the recommendation of County Council officers that the entire Amble area should have just one Councillor.
Anne-Marie was proud to introduce Secretary of State Theresa Villiers MP to Amble earlier this year, to see the development plans for the Harbour.
Anne-Marie is also working with local shopkeepers to improve parking access to the shops & high street.
